Officers dismissed for not registering seized liquor bottles

Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Lt Gen Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah, has issued a decision to dismiss two officers and six policemen from service for negligence and exploiting their authority, Al-Qabas daily reported quoting security sources.

According to report, the officers include one captain and the other a first lieutenant, and the six policemen were working under them. They are accused of not ‘registering’ the bottles of alcohol seized at regular intervals and failed to hand over the confiscated booze to the ministry warehouse from where it is taken to an open area and destroyed.

The report said the 8 men in uniform were interrogated and a report was sent to the minister who formed a special investigation committee to look into this sensitive case before taking a decision to dismiss them from work.
