City Group, Kuwait’s leading listed public transport company and operators of Citybus, launched a new innovative range of Citybus bus passes. In addition, the company also announced that it has taken delivery of 50 brand new Citybus buses, all specially designed for use on its routes in Kuwait.
The new Citybus bus passes cost from 7.5KD for a fifteen day pass for all routes up to 13.5KD for a thirty day pass for all routes. Most passes cost 9KD for thirty days on specified routes. Passes can be bought from either of two central Citybus bus pass outlets, one at Salaam Tower in Malliya and the other at The Citybus Bus Depot at Salmiya.

Citybus has also launched a scheme which provides additional discounts for employers buying multiple bus passes on behalf of their staff. Customers or employers who would like to know more about the new Citybus bus passes can get further information by calling the Citybus hotline number on 1882211.

Clad in Citybus’s distinctive red and white livery, the 50 new buses, which have been specially designed for Kuwait’s roads and climate, were deployed on Citybus routes from January 2011. Each bus takes up to 47 passengers, seated and standing and all are fully air-conditioned with a capacity of 28,000 Kcal/h. The buses, which have been built by the Chinese company Yutong to Citybus specifications, have European style interiors and are powered by Cummins engines coupled with Voith automatic transmission. The vehicles are also fitted with speed restrictors to enhance passenger comfort and road safety.

Richard Woods, Group Chief Executive Officer, City Group said: “This is part of City Group’s KD 1 million programme of investment over the next year in the Citybus fleet and services for Kuwait.” “As a leading provider of public transport in Kuwait, we are dedicated to finding ways to give our customers better value and better quality, as well as ensuring that Kuwait has a public transport system which is world class. “he added.
“The new Citybus bus pass will give customers real savings on their travel costs as well as improved convenience, while our new specially designed buses will provide passengers with enhanced safety and comfort on their journeys, as well as allowing Citybus to increase the frequency of services on some routes”, Richard Woods said.
