Upkar Association Kuwait Celebrated its Annual Picnic & Lohri

Upkar Association Kuwait, one of the Association of Indians formed in Kuwait, celebrated its Annual Picnic & Lohri on 10th January, 2019. The venue was a camp in the Kheiran Desert area. Lohri is a popular winter time Punjabi folk festival, celebrated in the northern part of India. Lohri marks the end of winter season, and is a traditional welcome of longer days and sun's journey to the northern hemisphere in the northern states of the Indian subcontinent.

The event included a picnic and the grand finale was the lighting of the Lohri in the evening.l.

Upkar members turned up in large numbers to get together, enjoy the gathering and celebrate the festival. There was food, music as well as games for all. The camp had a large open area where members could be seen playing volleyball, dodgeball and other games. The little ones too enjoyed playing in the sand as well as riding the buggies around the venue. A variety of snacks and food were available throughout for members to enjoy!

The Lohri itself was lit in the evening and everyone joined in to greet each other and participate in the celebrations.
