Indian Community School to celebrate 60th anniversary next year

Yearlong activities will mark the 60th anniversary for Indian Community School Kuwait (ICSK) next year. Variety of activities including Career fair, Gulf art festivals etc will add colors to the yearlong activity, informed Dr V Binumon, Senior Administrator & Principal of ICSK. He was talking to the media to brief the 60th anniversary celebration of the school. Hon. Chairman of ICSK board of Trustee Shaik Abdul Rahiman and Hon. Vice Chairman Vinukumar Nair were also present during the press briefing.

The school is planning to conduct many activities during its Diamond Jubilee Celebrations. ICSK Super Mega carnival will be organized in a more attractive and splendid manner so that more people will attend and more students can get monetary assistance for their education, Dr Binumon said. The carnival which is driven by the altruistic purpose of creating a 'Welfare Fund' - a fund to financially aid underprivileged students - a fund to ensure that economically weak students are not deprived of their fundamental right to education, he added.

In the year 2018, the school aided 168 financially weak students through the “Welfare Fund’ and an amount of KD 34,584 in total was disbursed. In the Junior Branch 36 students were given the ICSK freeship of KD 8,092 while in Khaitan, 54 students were aided through the ICSK freeship of KD 9,306. In Amman an amount of 8,738 was distributed to 46 students while in Senior 32 students were supported through the amount of KD 8,448.

The school is also going to organize Higher Education Fair, a career guidance programme cum exhibition on January 2019 also as a part of its Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.
As part of 60th anniversary, ICSK is also planning to conduct Indian School Gulf Arts Fest- ISGAF, in the last week of October 2019 with the participation of schools from all over the Gulf Region with more than 100 competitions, in the same model as the Kerala Youth Festival. The school has previously conducted Indian School Mega Arts Fest-ISMAF in the year 2016 which was a grand success.

The school has been a forerunner in many charitable activities throughout the years. An amount of more than 80 Lakhs in Indian money has so far been distributed to the cancer patients, identified by the doctors of Kuwait Cancer center, through its charity programme. The school has also contributed 10 lakh rupees towards the Re. 1 Fund initiated by the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi to aid the families of Indian Military and Para-Military forces.

As part of the recent flood calamity in Kerala, the school had contributed an amount of 21 Lakh rupees towards the Kerala ‘Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund’ for the recently affected flood relief operation in the state of Kerala. The student council presidents who visited the Kerala Chief Minister to hand over the contribution were also present during the press briefing.
