Huge crowd attends India’s 72nd Independence Day celebration here at Indian Embassy premise in Kuwait. Thousands of Indians from all walks of life came to the Indian Embassy early morning today to celebrate the spirit of Independence Day.
72nd Independence Day was celebrated by the unfurling of the tri-colour National Flag by Ambassador H.E. Mr. K. Jeeva Sagar, the singing of the National Anthem and the reading out of the Hon’ble President’s Address to the Nation.
The event started by garlanding the Mahatma gandhi Statue by the Ambassador H E K Jeeva Sagar. Famous Kuwaiti Singer Mr Mubarak Al Rashed sang Indian patriotic songs, which was well received by the audience with big round of applause. Mubarak Al Rashed wished all Indians a Happy Independence Day and said that he is privileged to attend the India’s independence day celebration. Various Indian associations, including Kuwait Kannada Koota, Saradhi Kuwait, Gujarati Samarpan Association, Kuwait Odhissa Association, etc participated in the singing of Patriotic songs.

Kuwait being home to 7.62 lakh Indian nationals, a large section of Indian community from all walks of life representing businesspersons, doctors, engineers, chartered accountants, technicians in oil & gas sector, construction workers, nurses and domestic workers, etc., participated in the Independence Day celebrations with great joy and enthusiasm, reflecting India’s rich ethnic, linguistic, religious and cultural diversity in Kuwait.
The Ambassador emphasized that India-Kuwait relations have been historically close, warm and friendly. He commended the contribution of the Indian community in Kuwait’s socio-economic development and in nurturing India-Kuwait ties. He extended his warmest greetings to all members of the Indian community in Kuwait.
Embassy had arranged free bus service to the Embassy from nearest parking area due to the ongoing construction work near embassy premise. The closure of the main road leading to Embassy resulted in inconvenience for many to reach the Embassy.
Many Indian restaurants in Kuwait offered free breakfasts and refreshments to the crowd who gathered at the Embassy. Super markets including Luly Hypermarket, Carrefour, and Various Indian Associations distributed Sweets and Water to the crowd. Popular newspapers in Kuwait released special supplement to mark India’s Independence Day. Popular Community Portal IndiansinKuwait.com distributed caps to thousands of public, which became handy for the people in the hot weather.
