The most amazing part of our school’s academic year is here. The part of the year where children can have fun and spend time with their friends and family. It is the holiday season. And that’s not only it, children have two weeks full of excitement, joy and glee. Children can roam around, ride their bicycles and develop their different and unique skills and abilities. They could even watch television and listen to music. They literally have the entire day to themselves! But having holidays does not mean that we should sit at home all day and watch TV or play on our tablets. It means to spend the day doing something useful that could either benefit us in a short or long-term period. So here are some activities that I would carry out in the holidays and how it would benefit me.

First, during the holidays I would start reading books written by Roald Dahl and R.L. Stine such as goosebumps and so on. I like to read these books as they develop a sense of curiosity in my mind and they also cure my boredom. Reading books not only help to improve my vocabulary but also help me to learn new words. Thus, reading books have a lot of advantages. So, I love to read books whenever I have free time or during the holidays.

Second, I would play outdoor games with my friends and family in the holidays. Outdoor games are fun, and they require the skills of teamwork and coordination. Playing outdoor games also help us to develop a strong bond or relationship with our friends and family. It teaches how to be more communicative and interactive if we want to reach a common goal that is success. Playing outdoor games also makes us fit and healthy. It reduces the chances of heart diseases, heart attacks as well increases our immunity, stamina and endurance.

Thirdly, I would start developing my skills and talents in the holidays. This is because all of us are unique and we have different abilities. So what good are these abilities if we do not improve them and use them? For example, one of my unique skills is speed solving a Rubik’s cube. Every holiday I always try to improve my talent by practicing solving daily as well as learning new tricks. Currently my best time on the Rubik’s cube is nineteen seconds. Another one of my talents is chess. I try to improve this unique ability of mine by practicing playing chess with other players and online during the holidays. Of course, it is time consuming trying to improve our abilities, but the result is worth it.

Lastly, I would spend my holidays with my relatives and cousins in India. This would help me to reconnect with them and establish an even stronger bond with them. It is always nice to go and have fun with our near and dear ones as well as spend our precious time with them. My relatives also love to tell me some of their life stories and achievements which really astonish me and deepens my desire to accomplish my goals and succeed.

I conclude by saying that holidays should not be the days where we waste time either by playing on our phone or tablet. It should be considered as the days where we have fun as well as enjoy ourselves. It should also be a time of mental and physical development. We should remember that we should fill every single moment of our life with beautiful memories. Time is precious as once it is gone, it cannot be brought back. So, we need to spend time with our friends and family and we should live our life to the fullest. We only live once so we should try to make a difference in our society and in the world for the better good of the people.
