ASSE Beach Clean Up Drive – 2018

A Community Outreach Event

American Society of Safety Engineers – Kuwait organized a Beach Cleanup Drive on 12th May 2018 at Mahboula Beach. During the amazing signature event around 100 people including Petrofac employees, school children and ASSE Members.

The program started with a welcome speech from ASSE Kuwait Chapter where in Mr. Sunil Sdanand, Secretary, welcomed all the participants. He thanked all for their presence and active participation. Mr. Aamir Rasheed, Vice President, ASSE Kuwait Chapter informed the participants that “Our goal for Cleanup Day at Mahboula Beach is not only to pick up every piece of trash we can reach, but also to educate the public on the responsibility of keeping the beaches clean and save our environment”. Mr. Balvant, Deputy Head of Outreach Committee delivered a safety talk on the Do’s & Don’ts.

Petrofac International Ltd. (PIL) sponsored this program. PIL is a leading International service provider to the oil and gas production and processing industry. Petrofac provided T-Shirts, Caps, Hand Gloves, Trash Bags to all participants.

The objective of this initiative was to build an awareness of the problems that are caused by garbage left on the beaches and implement activities to alter the population and visitor’s behaviour so that they do not throw waste on the beach. The Beach Clean-up Campaign is one of PIL Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in giving good attention to the community and the environment.

The Cleanup Drive started at 7:30 am and stretched till 10.00 am. During the closing notes Mr. Muhammad Alamgir President of ASSE Kuwait Chapter and Project HSSE Manager of PIL, thanked all participants. The event was supported by Kuwait Municipality, Ahmadi Governorate.

Finally, the program concluded with the distribution of Snack boxes and the participation certificates to all school children and other participants for their active role in the event.

ASSE – Kuwait Chapter, has been organizing these events in Kuwait for several years; targeting a new beach every year.
