Salmiya Indian Model School Investiture and Scholar Badge Ceremony

Salmiya Indian Model School Investiture and Scholar Badge Ceremony, was held on 3rd May, 2018. This prestigious ceremony is held to officially induct the student council members, as well as to award students with scholar badges.

We were honoured to have in our midst Mr. Raeven D’souza, Managing Editor, The Times, Kuwait as our Chief Guest. Also present, to pin and initiate the student council and to award the meritorious students with Scholar Badges were, Chief Engineer, Paradigm Pioneer Group - Mr. Haseeb Ur Rab, SIMS Director - Dr. Anis Ahmed, Officiating Principal – Mrs. Anita Sadanand and KG Supervisor – Mrs. Jyothi Menon.

The ceremony began at 8:30, with a crisp march past by the student council members into the auditorium with heads held high. This was followed by the recitation of the Quran, a prayer song and the Kuwait national anthem, by the school choir. What followed, was the main part of the ceremony, the Investiture of the Student Council. The council members marched forward in pairs and received their sashes and badges from the Chief Guest, the Director, the Principal and the KG Supervisor. The Prefects of classes 5 to 12 then marched forward to receive their badges, which was pinned on them by the wardens of the three houses. The student council and the prefects took the Oath of Office, administered by Dr. Anis Ahmed - SIMS Director, pledging to work fairly and impartially and to do their best in the roles assigned to them. The newly appointed Head Boy Hussain Saffouri and Head Girl Domella Rodrigues delivered their maiden speeches. The Prefects then marched out, followed by the Council.
The second part of the ceremony, was, the awarding of Scholar Badges for academic excellence. Around 180 children received this great honour, cheered on by proud parents.

The Chief Guest addressed the gathering and gave the new leaders valuable words of advice.

The programme culminated with a vote of thanks proposed by former Deputy Head Boy, Mohammed Raashid, followed by the Indian national anthem.
