Engineer’s residency issue: MHRD send letter to Kuwait

Thursday, April 19, 2018

As the Kuwait government set new norms of No Objection Certificate from Kuwait Society of Engineers for the renewal of the residency of Engineers, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), India has written a letter to the Kuwait government, saying that graduates from premier Indian engineering institutions have qualified duly accredited courses.

According to reports from Indian Media, the Indian government has written to Kuwait, saying that most Indian engineers have valid qualifications that should be recognized in the country.

The move comes following the Kuwaiti government’s decision to make it mandatory for expatriate engineers to get a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE). In its letter, MHRD said that “Since NBA has started functioning only from 2012, it is possible that some engineers are currently working in Kuwait who acquired degrees prior to setting up of NBA. It is requested that the qualification of such engineers may not be questioned at this later stage,” Indian media Hindustan Times reported.

The government also highlighted that some premier institutions of excellence in the field of engineering have been created by India, in which candidates are admitted only after going through a highly competitive entrance examination.

Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Kuwait continues its discussion with the Kuwait Society of Engineers. Officials from Indian Embassy along with the representatives of Kuwait Engineers Forum, Tamil Engineers Forum and Progressive Professional Forum met with the KSE officials yesterday. The team explained about various structure of accreditation in India to the Chairman and executive board of KSE.
