2000 kilos of clothes collected for distributing amongst the needy

As the country celebrates the national day, Youth India Kuwait comes forward with a unique step. People from various walks of life has embraced the Youth India Dress bank project with great enthusiasm. Youth India volunteers waiting at Abbasiya Pravasi Auditorum, Farwaniya Ideal Auditorium, Salmiya Central hall, Abuhaleefa Thanima Auditorium and Fahaheel Unity Center were not disappointed by the overwhelming response of the public.

More than 2000 kilos of clothes were collected from various parts of Kuwait. Clothes that were brought washed and pressed did not even appear old. Most were only used once or twice, or kept unused because they do not fit. Only usable clothes were accepted, discarding torn and damaged clothes.

Most homes happen to have good clothes that are no longer in use. Youth India's wish to make it accessible to the poor and needy resulted in the Project. KIG acting President P T Shareef inaugurated the program at the ceremony held in Farwaniya. Members of Youth India sorted and readied the collected clothes for distribution. Clothes were collected on Sunday evening from 4 pm to 8 pm, under the supervision of Muneer Madathil and O T Naufal in Farwaniya, Shebin and Ismail in Abbasiya, N K Shafi and Ansar in Salmiya, Suhail and Salim Muhammed in Fahaheel, Abdul Azeez and Haris Ismail in Abuhaleefa.

The collected clothes will be distributed among the needy in Kuwait and India, said the organizers. This is only the first part of the project. The organizers also said that the rest will be duly organized and executed.
