Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association Conducted Extraordinary Annual General Meeting

Consequent to the General Elections held in the month of December 2018. the first AGM of Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association (AMU), was held on February 16, 2018 at Vasantha Bhavan in Mahboula. The new team elected in the elections held in December 2017, was introduced to the General Body. M/s. Tanwir Alam and Asad Khan were elected respectively as the President and Vice President of the association with M/s. Javed Warsi and Saba Omar as General and Joint Secretary in order with M/s Naved Asghar and Niaz Akhtar respectively as OSD and Joint OSD. The three Executive Members, M/s Mohammad Parvaiz Khan, Mohammad Azharuddin and Tareq Waseem were re-elected, whereas the other 4 elected EC members are Asif Jamil, Ehtesham Ullah Khan, Habibullah and Mumtaz Siddiqui. In keeping with the bylaws of the association, one vacant position of Executive Body was filled by picking, Mr, Abdul Ahad Khan, which was announced in AGM for the information of the members.

The AGM began with the recitation from Holy Quran by Master Yusuf Khan which was followed by supplication for the near and dear ones of association members who left for their heavenly abode by Janab Ainul Haque Sb. The meeting opened with an speech from the Immediate Past President, Mr. Khurram Saeed, who thanked the general body for their support and cooperation extended to him and his team during his tenure. He also felicitated the new team and wished them good luck and assured them of extending all help as and when needed. Mr. Tanwir Alam, in short and cohesive Presidential address, expressed his feelings and assured the General Body of enriching their otherwise set pattern of life by focussing on the leisurely activity of members, an escape from the confines of the home or stress of office and work. He emphasised upon the activities of the association as Kuwait alumni-centric. He very aptly summed up, by quoting Mark Twain – Do the right thing it will gratify few people and astonish the rest – in other words he assured the members of a win-win situation under his leadership.

Javed Warsi, while presenting the ambitious and meticulously planned activity plan of the year 2018 proposed frequent family get-togethers and kept open the option to include any other activity that might be the need of the hour. He said that the idea of frequent member meetings at regular interval will lead to better understanding and connectivity in the alumni fraternity for a strong and binding association between individuals and families.

The programme concluded with a very lively and vibrant Question / Answer session. which lasted for a period longer than the main programme. In the end Mr. Asad Khan, the Vice President, proposed the vote of thanks. He thanked and expressed his appreciation of all who played their role by being a part of the total environment in making the AGM a success.

The meeting was well attended drawing a cross section of members of GB including women members.
