Bhavans Celebrates 11th Annual Day

Jleeb, Feb. 9, 2018: Bhavans Kuwait celebrated her 11th annual day on February 9, 2018 in such a manner that every pulsating moment of the day would be stored in the secret archives of the hearts; the hearts of those blessed few who could be in the fairyland created by the Bhavan family.

The 11th annual day, themed ‘TARANG’ was honoured by the gracious presence of the Chief Guest the Ambassador of India to Kuwait, His Excellency, Mr.K.Jeeva Sagar, the Guests of Honour, Ambassador of Guyana to Kuwait, His Excellency, Dr. Shamir Al Ally, Dr. Maryann Beebe Ally, Mr. N.K.Ramachandran Menon, Chairman Bhavans Middle East, his better half, Mrs. Sudha Ramachandran, Mr. Sooraj Ramachandran, Director Bhavans Middle East, Mr. Krishnadas Menon, Director Bhavans Kuwait the Mr. T.Premkumar, the Principal, Indian Educational School Kuwait and Mr. Mahesh Iyar, the Principal Smart Indian School Kuwait, Mrs. Rathi Raveendran, the Principal, Jack & Jill Kuwait, Master Sreeram Sooraj Ramachandran and other distinguished dignitaries.

The magic 'Tarang' of a fairy world engulfed the school premises as the day of celebration started with soul-soothing verses from the holy Quran followed by the Kuwait National Anthem. The day of magnificence unfurled with the prayer song rendered by the school choir.

The ceremonial lamp was then conjointly lit by the Chief Guest, the Ambassador of India to Kuwait, H.E K.Jeeva Sagar, the Guests of Honour, Ambassador of Guyana to Kuwait, H.E Dr. Shamir Al Ally, Dr. Maryann Beebe Ally, Mr.N.K.Ramachandran Menon, Mrs. Sudha Ramachandran and Mr.Sooraj Ramachandran.

An invocation dance of classical fusion performed by the talented bhavanites was the outrider of the cultural fiesta of the evening. The audience could feel the divine touch as they swayed and reeled in a devotional trance.

The blessed gathering of the chosen few was welcomed by Miss. Meghavarnika, the Head Girl, Indian Educational School Kuwait. The floral bouquets of love, respect and appreciation were extended to the guests and special invitees by the school supreme council members.

The school annual report, written in blood and sweat of the members of the Bhavan Fraternity, voicing the love, respect and jubilation of every member of the family was delivered by Mr. T. Premkumar, the Principal IES Kuwait. Master Sreeram Sooraj, son of Mr. Sooraj Ramachandran, the Director, Bhavans Middle East and the grandson of Mr. N.K. Ramachandran, Chairman Bhavans Middle East delivered the keynote speech, expressing his wish to be a part of the Bhavans Family, Kuwait. He extolled the phenomenal achievements by the students of IES in both curricular and extracurricular activities.

He admitted that he was in awe of the practiced pedagogue and masterly captain at the helm, and those were the factors that made IES the pride of every Bhavanite and the envy of every student the next door.

After the report, the visual extravaganza unfurled. The happening arena transformed into a fairyland where fairies and elves sang and danced to the magic tunes. Then the arena was hit by ‘the Sandstorm,’ the newly christened band of Bhavan.

When the incredulous band performance was done and dusted, the audience, still trying to recover from the ‘hit’ could be seen all covered in the note particles of the ‘bandstorm, oblivious to the world around them. Bhavan’s seasoned and skilled artists drew a motivational story through a skit, on the stage which depicted a young girl’s miraculous fight to survive, to live; to defy death and to live.

The thought provoking stories told by the young Bhavanites through different style of dances and a mime ran down the heart of every enthralled audience in a million little ways.

After the breathtaking cultural show, the chief guest, the Ambassador of India to Kuwait, H.E K.Jeeva Sagar, still awestruck by the breathtaking performance by the young and spirited Bhavanites, congratulated the performers on their brilliance. In his speech, he emphasized upon the importance of the roles of teachers and parents in the lives of children.

He further stressed on the need to inculcate the right values in our children at home and at school quoting his experiences from his life, and strongly cast his notion that parents must be able to convince their children, the reason why they should become a doctor, lawyer or any other professional rather than brood over the sinful thought of turning them into cash cows.

He added that, being parents and teachers it is our responsibility to watch each step of our children and mould them to be the citizens of the world. His aired philosophy on children reminded one, of the philosophical thought of Sufi saints, ‘Your children come through you but not from you, you may give them your love but not your thoughts.’
The speech culminated in opening many eyes, and opened the door for the prize distribution ceremony which brought many wiz kids and child prodigies onto the stage to receive the prizes of excellence and accomplishment. Parents of Anshika an outstanding outgoing student of IES received the Bhavans Gold Medal weighing 20 g for her astounding performance in the class 12 CBSE examination with a staggering score of 97.4% in the science stream, topping the Bhavans group of schools in the Middle East, and also being the topper in Kuwait. She is also the recipient of the G. V Memorial cash award. Soon after, time brought another moment of glory as, ‘Tejas’, the school magazine, a churning furnace of creativity, was released by the chief guest.
The day of dream ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Miss Malavika Mavath, the Cultural Secretary Girls, IES Kuwait, followed by the Indian National Anthem. The emcees for the day were Miss Chrisa Oomman, Miss Sana Parkar, Miss Yogitha Babu and Master Evan Sunil. Thus, another eventful historic day in the life of every Bhavanite ended on a high note, paving way for another exceptional academic year.
