Kuwait Muthamizh Kalai Mantram Celebrated ‘Pongal’ and Indian Republic Day Festival

Prominent Tamil Association “Kuwait Muthamizh Kalai Mantram” celebrated Tamil harvest festival ‘Pongal’ and Indian Republic day in a grand manner on 19th January, 2018 at Kohinoor hall, Fahaheel, Kuwait. The function commenced at 10 a.m. with the recitation of Tamil Anthem by Smt. Ranimohan and team. The program hall was named as Ayyan Thiruvalluvar to honour the ancient Tamil poet. Founder President Dr. K. Kumar welcomed the guests and participants. President Kalifullah has presided over the function with the fabulous support of Chandrasekar. Secretary Karthikeyan and Treasurer Smt. Ranimohan were ably managed the programme schedule. Well known child artist Selvan Harshid Sunil Kumar mesmerized the audience with his Keyboard notes. Familiar ‘Veena’ artist in Kuwait Selvi Akalya Meenakshi has rendered a profusely fledged Indian Carnatic classical concert and she was accompanied with the famous Mridangam artist Sanees and the Gadam artist Sheeraj.

Dr. Inbathamizh Ilangovan from National bank of Kuwait and Dr. Krishnan, former Prof. of Tamilnadu Agricultural University and the eminent Cricket coach, Krishnakumar, father of Indian Cricket Player Dinesh Karthik were grace the occasion as guests of honour. Tamil association presidents and representatives Messrs. Semponmari Sethu, Rajasekar, Natarajan, Gangai Gopal, Somasundaram, Sunil Kumar, Raman, Vasuramanathan, Sambath Kumar, Anbarasu, Arivazhakan, Makizhan, Hameed, Pinnaloor Manikandan, Hassan Mohamad, Mathivanan, ‘Veldon’ Haneef, Rajarajan and Ghandi were grace the occasion as special guests. Mrs. Kala Yoganathan generously offered the ‘Pongal’ ingredients. Smt. Revathi Tamilselvan, Athimoolam and Raghav Yoganathan offered a scintillating note on significance of Pongal festival. Poet Sivamani and Poet Thara presented special poems. The programme was well coordinated by Messrs. Mannai Raja and ‘Aranthai’ Ganesan with splendid support by Dr. Mathan, Er. Prabu, Shri. Ramalingam, Ravinder, Pandimuthu and Ahok Kumar.

Dr. K. Kumar, Smt. Ranimohan, Smt. Manjula, Messrs. Swaminathan, Ramakrishnan and Murugesan enthralled the audience with their sweet cinematic melodies. Mr. Ananth and designer Soban from Kuwait Tamil Catholic Association extended their logistic supports in an incredible way. The entire programme was photographed in a spellbound manner by Smt. Nazeema Nazi with an assistance of Selvi Ameera Kamaludin. With a majestic introduction by the Secretary Mr. Karthikeyen, a ‘Pattimantram’ on the title ‘Winning in election is decided either by democracy or currency” was staged under the chairmanship of ‘Veldon’ Janab Mohamad Gouse. Smt. Ambuja Lakshmi, Messrs Kamaludin and Mannai Raja were lined-up for democracy while Smt. Revathi Kannan, Messrs. Nammapattu Manickam and Aranthai Ganesan were put forth their valued views on currency. The programme was well supported by Mr. Raja with his excellent audio arrangements. The vote of thanks was delivered by Poetess Ranimohan. The program came to an exciting end at 3pm. with delicious ‘Pongal’ lunch on banana leaf, served to the attendees with traditional touch.
