Religious freedom is a fundamental human right – ISCON 2017

The 6th two-day Islamic Students Conference (ISCON) organized by Kuwait Kerala Islahi Center (KKIC) came to a conclusion on Friday, Dec 1, 2017. The key note address was rendered by the General Convener of Wisdom Global Islamic Mission, TK Ashaf. He stressed on the importance of freedom of religion and the need for the society to stand together in order to preserve it, as it is a fundamental human right. He condemned the extremist fringe organizations “that are misrepresenting the real principles of Islam and attempts by vested interests to marginalize the Muslim community.” He exhorted Muslims to adhere to the teachings of Islam and thereby present the faith in its true light to the world.

Abdul Rashid Kuttambur for his part stated that the solutions for the problems of mankind can be found only through divine guidance. He was talking ‘Effective Parenting’ in the afternoon session. Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf, Sheikh Khalid Bu Ghais inaugurated the seminar. KKIC President, PN Abdul Lateef Madani, hosted the event.

Tarek Sami Sultan Al Essa, Chairman of Ihya U Thuras Islamiya, also addressed the gathering. The campaign aimed at expanding the subscriber base of KKIC’s weekly magazine, Nerpadam, was inaugurated by Jaliyath representative, Mohammed Ali.

The certificates for students graduating from the five religious schools (Madrasas) under KKIC and the prizes for the toppers were handed out during the seminar. The book exhibition jointly organized by Wisdom Roots and KKIC was also held during the 2-day event.

Sherif (KIG), Abdul Aziz Valiyakath (KMCC) and Sadiq Ali (MES) shared their thoughts about the event representing their organizations. AM Abdul Samad, KC Abdul Lateef and Emitiyas NM were in charge of the presidium. Zakir KA gave the welcome address and CP Abdul Aziz rendered the vote of thanks.

On the first day, the conference was officially inaugurated by the General Convener of Wisdom Global Islamic Mission, TK Ashraf. iPlus TV Managing Director, Sayed Khalid Patel, Hassan Taha, a faculty member of Times Kuwait, Abdul Rasheed Kuttambur and PN Abdul Rahman spoke at the conference tackling a variety of topics for the benefit of the students. The ISCON souvenir, Nervazhi, was officially released by Abdul Rasheed Kuttambur by presenting a copy to Shuaibh Bin Amr. FIMA Gen Sec, Hidayathulla, also spoke at the event.
