IDAK conducts Study Club on "Dental Ergonomics: Issues and Prevention"

Indian Dentists' Alliance in Kuwait (IDAK) in association with Kuwait Dental Association (KDA) organised a Study Club titled "Dental Ergonomics: Issues and Prevention" on November 10, 2017, at the Kuwait Dental Association hall in Jabriya.

One of the most common problems that lead to reduced efficiency of dentists, lost working days and chronic discomfort is musculoskeletal disorders that reduce the efficiency of dentists. In addition to this, there are postural syndromes which occur as an occupational hazard in dentistry. It is very important for dentists to learn about these disorders so that they can prevent them from occurring. In addition, dentists should learn methods for correction of these disorders once they occur. So, the objective of the lecture was to provide Specialists & General Dentists with an update of the common musculoskeletal disorders and postural syndromes that affect dentists, methods for assessing the disorders and common procedures that can be adopted to correct and treat these disorders

This lecture discussed the specific musculo-skeletal disorders (MSD) and postural syndromes that occur in dental clinical practice, care and prevention of the common MSD issues, Simple posture self-correction illustrated with images, Optimistic approach in MSD prevention to avoid early retirement due to pain syndromes and clinical self-assessment and early management with simple methods.

The lecture was made by Dr.Fakrudheen Ali Ahamed, BPTh., MSc(Psy), CMT, a Specialist Physiotherapist in Adan hospital Physiotherapy Department.

In addition, IDAK also organised lectures on two other topics on the same day. The topics of these lectures were "Legal issues faced by Indian dentists and their management", by Mr. Rajesh Sagar, Senior Legal Advisor, Kuwait Airways Company, and "Growing and Protecting Wealth, Financial and Succession Planning" by Mr. R. Kuppanna, General Manager, Kuwait India International Exchange.
