ICSK Senior Conducts Seminar on ‘Challenges Faced by Adolescents’

“Adolescence represents an inner emotional upheaval, a struggle between the eternal human wish to cling to the past and the equally powerful wish to get on with the future.” It is quite true that adolescence is the pivotal phase in any human’s development and growth. It is the crucial transitional period from childhood into adulthood. Crucial physical, emotional, mental, and attitudinal changes take place during this period. To equip the students to deal with this challenging period in an individual’s life, The Indian Community School (Senior) Kuwait, organized a seminar on ‘CHALLENGES FACED BY ADOLESCENTS’ on 16th November 2017 in the school auditorium.

Dr.Thomas Idiculla, Director, Mental Health Evaluation Dept & e BASIS, McLean Hospital who is an Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, Greater Boston Area Hospital & Health Care conducted the session.

The session threw more light into the adolescent period which is often believed to be a difficult period and very critical stage of transition because of various qualitative shift that the children pass through at that moment of life. Dr.Thomas Idiculla elaborated on the different ways to steer clear of the trial and turbulance that occurs in teenagers who find it difficult to deal with the stress and come under bad influence.

The discourse was an eye opener as it threw light on the different ways students can achieve success in life.The speaker urged the students to stay away from distractions while studying and gave them tips to train their minds to concentrate. The lively questionnaire session paved the path to realistic solutions by Dr. Thomas Idiculla.

Principal Dr. V.Binumon thanked Dr. Thomas for his visit to the school and for his inspiring session conducted to motivate the students of school by empowering them to face life’s challenges head on.
