KIFL Goa FC Upset Indian Strikers

KIFF league 3rd week matches started with United Goans Centre (UGC) taking on Skynet Miracles SC.

To everyone’s surprise it was Skynet Miracles SC who started the match with control showing why they are a formidable force to be reckoned. Within 11 minutes Denzil opened the scoring for Skynet with a brilliant assist from Diego. There was no respite for UGC as Ajay scored for Skynet again in the 23rd minute giving them a lead of 2-0 during the break.

In the second half UGC started with a renewed ideas and succeeded in scoring a brilliant goal from 30 yards through Kishore. Later, UGC would have levelled the score if not for goalkeeper Alvaro who was excellent in the goal making some point blank saves. Ultimately, a misunderstanding by UGC defence and their goalkeeper saw a self-goal which resulted Skynet Miracles winning 3-1.

Ajay Satarkar of Skynet Miracles was adjusted Man of the Match. The award was presented by Cajetan Fernandes President of Skynet Miracles SC. Match was officiated by Rosario duly assisted by Rafi and Sameer.

Curtorcares Beat Pen Friends 3-0.The second match was played between Curtorcares United and Pen Friends United. Curtorcares United proved too strong for Pen Friends right from the start with Gilbert scoring in the 9th minute. From then on Curtorcares controlled the match but missed opportunities that they created to consolidate the lead.

The second half started same as the first. The difference was Melvin who made good use of the opportunities created by scoring 2 quick goals for Curtorcares United in their first win with a score of 3-0. Amaldo Fernandes, President of Curtorcares United presented the man of match trophy to Melvin Fernandes of Curtorcares. Match officials were Bernard, Arnold and Nameer.

Goa FC beat Indian Strikers 2-1
Goa Football Club newcomers in KIFF earned their first points upsetting Indian Strikers FC 2-1.Goa FC played counter attacking football with every player defending and stopping India Strikers from scoring. The first half was scoreless.

In the second half Goa FC’s counter attacking proved fruitful as they succeeded in taking the lead with a goal from Rego. GFC’s joy was however short lived as Arun of Indian Strikers equalized in the 20th minute. Thereafter Indian Strikers were all out but were were given a shock as once again Rego scored for GFC 2-1.

In the dying minutes of the match Indian Strikers were awarded a penalty which was brilliantly saved by GFC goalkeeper to give them all 3 points. Rego was awarded man of the match for his double. The award was presented by Santana Pereira, President of Goa Football Club. Match was officiated by Edward Dias with Agnelo D’Cunha and Rosario Colaco assisting on the lines.

Goa Maroons v/s Santos United 1-0
GOA Maroons were lucky to win their match against Santos United, a match of missed opportunities and some excellent defence. With experience on their side, Maroons played organized football, creating opportunities which their strikers however kept on missing. On the other hand, Santos United with youngsters in their side played counter attacking football, creating panic in GOA defence. GOA Maroons should thank John and Steven in their defence for keeping them in the game.

In the second half, Goa Maroons had to bring their youngsters with pace, who proved too much for Santos United as their players started to tire up. Finally in the dying seconds of the match Goa Maroons scored from a corner kick through Conrad Pinto who was awarded man of the match presented by Mr. Julio Cardozo President of Goa Maroons. The match was officiated by Siddique, assised by Rafi and Sameer.
