Kuwait City Mar Thoma Parish Salmiya Zone conducted 10th Kudumba Sangamam

Kuwait City MarThoma Parish Salmiya Prayer groups conducted its 10th annual Kudumba Sangamam with colorful events at Indian Community School, Salmiya. The programme started with an opening prayer by Mrs.Rachel Oommen and Mr.P.M. Mathew. Rev. Dr. Joseph Thomas presented the presidential address and inaugurated the program. Parimanam Manoj (General Convener) welcomed the guests and gathering, which was followed by felicitation speech by Thomas Varghese ( Senior member ).

Mr. Jacob Thomas (former Head Master) gave the condolence message for the untimely demise of the beloved mother of Parish Vicar Rev. Georgie Varghese who travelled to India and was unable to attend the Kudumba sangamam. A one minute silence was observed by the attendees during the function.

Later on a Souvenir was inaugurated to mark the occasion of the 10th Anniversary by handing over a copy to Mr. Thomas Varghese by the Chief Guest Rev. Joseph Thomas. CA Mathew Varkey worked as the Souvenir Convener. During his speech, Mathew acknowledged the support and participation of various organization and members of the prayer groups in bringing out the Souvenir in such a manner.

There were choral renditions by Salmiya Zone prayer groups and Sevika Sangam, Variety of programs included drama, magic show, fusion music, skit, dance, solo and group songs. During the short breaks between each item, the audience was quizzed and those who responded with the right witty answers were awarded prizes.

The grand attraction was the one hour drama named “Alochana” meaning “Proposal” written by Mr. Joseph M.A. The theme of the play was – Any marriage proposal should be carefully evaluated before jumping to a conclusion. The family of middle class Achayan weighed more about money material aspects than the character of the boy. Word of God says “Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it” . This was the message conveyed through the drama.

Around 650 members participated in the family get-together, which concluded with a sumptuous dinner. The grand success of the event was due to the untiring efforts of the committee members under the leadership of Raju Kurukavelil & Joseph M.A (Program Conveners, Alex Lukose & Ronnie T. Varghese (Finance Conveners), Rajan C. Kulakada (Volunteer Convener), Anil P. Thomas (Light & Sound Convener), Chechamma Sunu (Arrangement Convener), Tinu Thomas & Johnkutty Oommen (Stage Conveners), Reji Varghese & John Mathai (Food Conveners), and Mathew Varkey (Souveneir Convener).

The program ended with the closing prayer by Mr. Babu Johnson. Mr. Raju Kurukavelil proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Nitya John compered the program.
