Once again the toddlers and young students of Salmiya Indian Model School put up a great show at the fancy dress competition on the topics’ Community helpers’ for grade 1 and ‘Indian traditional dress’ for grade 2 which was conducted in 4 days starting from 9th October, 2017 to 12th October 2017. It was the most awaited event, as it is always pleasure to watch the toddlers dressed up as different characters and speak with confidence. The purpose of conducting this competition was not only to blend learning with fun but to develop confidence in students by giving them an opportunity to get on stage and speak in front of the audience.

Students of grade 1 displayed their talent on the theme ‘Community Helpers’. They dressed up as Engineer, Policeman, Teacher, Painter, Sweeper etc and spoke about their importance in making our lives easier. The aim of conducting this competition was to recognise these helpers who are the backbones of the society whereas the students of grade 2 came forward displaying the vibrant and colourful costumes on the theme ‘Indian Traditional dress’. This showcased the richness of India’s culture and heritage. The participants from each section came forward and represented a state of India and spoke few lines about it. The few states to be listed out are Kerala, Nepal, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab etc. It was indeed a mesmerizing event which would be etched in our memory for a very long time.

Two winners from each class were selected and rewarded with certificates. This competition proved to be a learning experience for the students and gave them a platform to explore their hidden talents.
