Writers’ Forum’s monthly meeting regales…

It was at the residence of the Urdu critic Mrs. Maimuna Ali Chougle that the Writers’ Forum met for its monthly meeting on August 25, 2017. One of its women members Mrs. Nazneen Ali was the Chief Guest on the occasion, whereas Mrs. Maimuna was asked to preside over the evening’s meeting. In the absence of Rajesh Verlekar--the Gen. Secretary of the Forum, the meeting was conducted by Mr. Sunil Sonsi, the Joint Secretary.

The first session was ear marked for the review of WFK’s Kavi Sammelan – Mushaira which was held on August 18, 2017 at the Embassy of India’s auditorium. It was unanimously felt that the programme in the Embassy had received positive reviews from members as well as from the section of audiences. The poetries recited in the programme were well appreciated. Some minor deficiencies were also noted and it was agreed to rectify the shortcomings in the future. All members cheered the Working Committee for their dedication and sincere efforts towards the success of the programme.

In the second session of the meeting, the poets were invited to present their poetry. Umesh Sharma, Sabiha Bilgrami and the new entrant Vinay Purabiya recited in Hindi, Afroz Alam, Shakeel Jamshedpuri, Sabir Galsulkar and Ameeruddin Ameer in Urdu, Tushar Mishra in Odiya, while, Mohan Singh (for Parminder Kaur) recited in English respectively.

The Chief Guest – Mrs. Nazneen Ali expressed her regrets on missing the programme in the Embassy, being out of Kuwait and congratulated all members over the success of the programme. She also shared her observations on the soul-stirring recitations of the evening, and also recited her own poem in Hindi. Maimuna Ali Chougle while welcoming the new entrant also expressed her deep appreciation of how the various poets, in their unique styles, regaled everyone with a brilliant weaving of words. She also expressed her satisfaction at the programme in the Embassy and also congratulated all members for its successful conclusion. She also said that the success of the programme was crafted by the efforts of each and every member of the Forum. Amongst those present in the meeting also included Mr. Ali Chougle and Ms. Mateen Siddiqi. Sunil Sonsi thanked the hosts profusely and the members left enriched with yet another evening etched on their memories.
