Center For India Studies holds Environment Day Seminar

Leading think tank among the NRI community in Kuwait. Center For India Studies organised a multi layered event PRAGATHI as part of the World Environment Day celebrations. Chief Guest Sri P C George Consultant Ministry of Electricity & Water-Kuwait inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp followed a Welcome Speech by Sri Mahadevan, CIS president.The chief guest presented a power packed presentation on Energy Conservation highlighting the need of renewable resources thereby protecting the Environment. Sri Divakar of Amma Kuwait highlighted environment friendly indoor farming, making of compost from kitchen wastes in each household. Sri Santhosh Kumar Shenoy, An engineer with KNPC, highlighted current environmental threats, needs and ways to protect our environment for future generations. Sri Suresh Sivadasan from Seva Darshan Kuwait, spoke about India's rich heritage and traditional ways of protecting the nature. Artist Sri Sunil Pookode, the soul behind an environment friendly painting exhibition was honoured by the Chief Guest. Poetry recitation bu Shr. Anil Kumar, short film presentation by Smt.Malavika Krishna were the other highlights. The Environment quiz woners were presented with flower plants as gifts. Response of audience represented by NRI fraternity and well wishers from sisterly organisations was overwhelming. CIS General Secretary Sreejith gave the conclusion speech with the vote of thanks. Earth Day badges were distributed among audience symbolising the need for protecting the environment each day every hour.
