Blood Donor’s Kerala - Kuwait chapter celebrated the world blood donor day

In a remarkable event to raise awareness of the need for blood donation, Blood Donor’s Kerala - Kuwait chapter (BDK, Kuwait) celebrated the world blood donor day by organizing a successful blood donation camp at Central Blood Bank, Jabriya, Kuwait. About 135 volunteers from the various sects of Indian expatriate community in Kuwait has donated the blood at the Central Blood Bank , Jabriya under the banner of Blood Donors Kerala Kuwait chapter , a non-profitable and voluntary social media group actively working 24 hours to provide quality donor service for the needy. Despite being a working day and the blood donation drive organized at night the volunteers who donated their blood and platelets had out-numbered the expectations of the organizers.

BDK Kuwait celebrated its one year of services in Kuwait with a cake cutting ceremony done by Sri. Murali Panicker (President, BDK Kuwait) and Fr. Shaji P Joshua (Vicar, St. Basil Orthodox Church, Riggae). BDK has honoured Sri. Manoj Mavelikara an eminent personality in Kuwait and a frontline volunteer and advisor of the blood donation group for his exceptional social and welfare works for the Indian expatriate community in Kuwait. The tireless efforts of Secretary Ranjith Raj , co-ordinators namely Reghubal, Biji Murali, Jithin Jose, Rajesh RJ, Muneer PC, Terrence, Sarath Murali, Yamuna Reghubal, Prasanth Koyilandy and Vipin were rewarded by the great success of the Mega Blood Donation Drive.

In a very short time since its inception BDK, Kuwait has earned a significant position among the minds of Indian community by working as a voluntary organization exclusively for blood donation. BDK, Kuwait has arranged blood on number of occasions for patients under treatment in Kuwait hospitals in emergency situations thereby saving the lives of many. In the past one year BDK has donated more than 500 units of blood by conducting blood donation camps in association with Kuwait Central Blood Bank and various charity & welfare organizations in Kuwait.

The Blood Donors Kerala was formed in the year 2011 by a noble visionary named Vinod Bhaskaran to meet the rising blood requirements by exploiting all the positive aspects of social medias such as WhatsApp , facebook etc. BDK has a wide network and co-ordinators all over Kerala and also in other countries such as Kuwait, Qatar, UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi and Singapore actively involved in blood donation drives, social and welfare activities.

BDK has expressed their sincere gratitude to Kuwait Central Bank authorities for granting permission for the blood donation camp, and for the sincere support, patience in accepting the huge number turned out for the blood donation. The coordinators of BDK thanked all the donors for reaching the blood bank on time and dynamically waited till late night to complete the donation. BDK would like to congratulate the organizers, volunteers and sponsors of transportation for their hard work which made the World Blood Donor day celebrations a memorable one.
