Chit Chaat with Dad – A Fathers' Day special

Sunday, June 18, 2017

The ladies at AAK took to celebrating Fathers' Day on Friday, June 16th 2017 at Better Books, Salmiya, an event for members and their families. The role of a Father in an individual’s life cannot be under-estimated. Just like the Mother, the Father too invests himself completely in the child expecting almost nothing in return. At AAK, we believe that the role of a father is as important as that of a mother; we also recognize and admire the difficult role played by the single alumnae mums. This event focused on making the dads feel special and honoured. The cultural secretary, Rashmi Menezes welcomed the gathering. Jackie Alphonso and Ivy Sequeira gave glory to our Heavenly Father by singing Don Moen's 'Our Father'. This was followed by an action song 'Making Melody In My Heart' that got everyone warmed up for the evening.

Five year old Garon Mascarenhas & his father Elwyn Mascarenhas sang the all-time Jim Reeves favourite 'But You Love Me Daddy' - the utterly cute & melodious highlight of the evening. The children were made to answer a questionnaire on 'Who Knows Daddy Best' & Lloyd Dias, Praveen Luis and Naveen Pinto stood up to an applause as their children had correctly answered the most questions on them.

A photo contest conducted in honour of the occasion saw Melita Dsouza (Regional HR Manager of Pentair Inc, Dubai) placed Lavina Pinto & Felcy Tauro in 1st & 2nd places respectively.

In our 'Teaching and Learning Series', the children learnt the basic art of 'Knotting the Tie' from Allen Alphonso. Group games, forfeits and spot prizes kept the dads and the gathering entertained. The members' kids performed & danced for their fathers.

With the theme of the evening being 'Chit Chaat', the Bhelpuri, Moong Dal Chaat & Papdi Chaat that were instantly mixed and prepared by the AAK ladies had everyone smacking their lips & wanting more! Jackie Alphonso delivered the vote of thanks, thus bringing the evening to a close at 9:30 p.m.

AAK wishes all the fathers around the world, a very Happy & Blessed Fathers' Day!
