Kokan Welfare Society (KWS) hosts Community Iftar

Kokan Welfare Society, Kuwait hosted an Iftar for the Kokan community members on Friday 09th June 2017. It was attended by a large number of people. The program started with recitation with translation of verses from The Holy Quran by Hafiz Emad Faisal Jogilkar. This was followed by Deeni bayan by Mufti Hamza Qasim who spoke about the blessings of Ramzan the concept of social work in the society. Mufti Hamza Qasim spoke on the concept of unity and brotherhood in Islam and stressed on the social works towards the needy.





This was followed by presidential speech by Salim Desai. He welcomed the invitees and congratulated them on the blessed month of Ramadan. He spoke about the aims, objectives of formation of Kokan Welfare Society. He highlighted the activities of KWS and its future plans in the field of education and community welfare. He urged for the co-operation and dedication of the Kokni community members and requested participation of all the members.





KWS honoured around 24 students of 10th and 12th who scored distinction in their exams. It also honoured Emad Faisal Jogilkar, a student who along with his studies memorized the complete Holy Quran. The Golden sponsor Bayan Medical Co and Silver sponsor Eternity Travels and Salmiya Indian Model School (SIMS) for the event were also honoured.





The General Secretary, Dr. Rahmattullah Galsoorkar then briefed the audience with the society aims, objectives and the various activities like Students Mentorship program, Islamic Competitions, Kokan Family Picnic, Kokan Mela, Kokan Health Day, the Sadaqa collection scheme, Ramzan ration distribution in India, Islamic classes and the hosting the Kokni dignitaries arriving from India. He said the KWS was providing a platform for collective works for the uplift and development of the community. He stressed that all these works were accomplished and only possible by the support of the community. Kokan Privilege cards were distributed to all its enrolled members whereby they will be entitled for discounts from Metro Medical Center, Eternity Travels and many other business establishments
Amaullah Yelukar proposed the vote of thanks. Following this was Duaa by Maulana Rajab, thereafter followed by Iftar. Dinner was served after Magrib prayers
The program was well timed and compeered by Yacoub Solkar





The audience was very impressed and expressed their support to the welfare works for the community. The office bearers express their gratitude to the executive and working committees, the volunteers and the Kokni community for their dedicated efforts and support.
