IMA Kuwait organized Welcome Ramadan events

Under the patronage of Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Masjid Al-Kabir, Indian Muslim Association (IMA) English Unit in coordination with IMA Salmiya unit organized a public event in English on Welcome Ramadan on Friday 19th May 2017 at Masjid Al-Muzaini, Salmiya.

Guest Speaker Muhammed Naqwi, Katheeb and TV presenter spoke on the Subject “Ramadan and Taqwa”, quoting from Quranic verse, he said that purpose of fasting is to attain Taqwa (Peity). Elaborating on the meaning of Taqwa he said Taqwa is the highest level of Imaan. Ramdan is a yearly opportunity where Muslims are trained to increase the level of Taqwa in their life by fasting , reading Quran and doing extra prayers.

Another speaker of the day Mr. Sharafuddin Soofi, a well known speaker spoke on the topic “Muslim Personal Law and modern challenges”, Sharafuddin began his talk by explaining about the brief history of Muslim Personal Law and how it came into existence. He said Family laws which are based on the Islamic Sharia are called Muslim Personal Law which includes laws related to marriage , divorce and inheritance. Muslims are very much concerned about Personal Law as it’s not man made laws, but based on divine revelation sent by God to Prophet Muhammed pbuh. He clarified that among various problems faced by Indian Muslims divorce is not a major problem contrary to what is propagated by media. He also appealed Muslim community to be responsible citizen of India and not to misuse Muslim Personal Law . He also advised to practice true essence of Islam, which advocates peaceful coexistence with various community.

Event was well managed by members of Salmiya Unit. Event started with the Quranic recitation and translation in English by Master Faiz Zafar Khazi, Mr. Bashar Khan convened the event while event was concluded with vote of thanks by Fahim Ahmed. Dinner packets were served at the end of the event.

IMA also conducted similar programs in Abbasiya , Abu Halifa and City units to welcome Ramadan where different scholars were invited to address the gathering .
