Medical Camp For Staff-A Philanthropic Gesture by ICSK

“A healthy body hosts a healthy mind.” With this maxim in mind, a Medical Camp was organized under the auspices of The Indian community School, Kuwait in association with the Indian Doctors Forum (IDF) and Indian Dentists’ Alliance in Kuwait (IDAK), on 20th May, 2017 at ICSK Senior, Salmiya. The camp was attended by about 450 Staff Members and their families.

The main objective of this particular camp was to bring affordable healthcare and free health information to the staff and families of ICSK and identify their common health problems in order to devise ways of addressing them. Specifically, the Medical Camp sought to provide health services to the community; provide both preventive and curative treatment for common conditions in the community; refer those who require specialized treatment to the relevant centers; create awareness and provide counselling on Diabetes, breast cancer and other ailments; create awareness on the need for personal hygiene in prevention of serious disabling diseases such as eye and dental, which are prevalent in the area .

The services that were provided at the medical camp were as follows: Height & weight check, BP & Blood sugar check, Cholesterol /CBC check, ECG, Ultrasound & vision testing. Medical specialties which were available at the Medical Camp included General Medicine, General Surgery, ENT, Dermatology, Cardiology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Paediatrics, Gynaecology, Oncology, Neurology, Pulmonology, Endocrinology,Dental & Dietary Department.

Furthermore the medical camp provided opportunities to both medical and non medical personnel to give back to the community by way of volunteering their time, energy and expertise. Over 50 men and women including 30 doctors set aside their personal engagements and spent the whole day serving the needy in various capacities and it is because of the input of everybody who came out to help that the medical camp was a resounding success. The team of Principals under Dr.V.Binumon, Principal & Senior Administrator of ICSK coordinated the programme. Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association (KKMA) and Kuwait Kerala Muslim Cultural Center (KKMCC) made the arrangements to conduct the event successfully.
