Indian teaching community people of Kerala were proud of their legacy of exciting cuisine and Vishu was the time for them to prepare the traditional meal and enjoy them with SIS family.

‘Vishu’ the Hindu New Year festival is one of the most auspicious festivals. This festival known for many rituals like ‘Vishukani’, ‘Vishukaineetam’ and ‘Vishu Sadya’ unveiled the guests of other different communities at SIS a great deal, as the family celebrated it with lots of joy and zeal on Thursday, 13th April 2017. The celebration wore a new look as the members celebrated a fresh year with a special outfit that lit up the school with an impressive array of colours. SIS became a merriment full of laughter when the benevolent, the honourable Chairman N.K.Ramachandran Menon surprised us with his powerful visit during the family reunion that marked the celebration. He reiterated the importance of Vishu making life a celebration. It was gratifying to see our humble Chariman receiving a coin from the Principal Mr.Mahesh Iyer during the ritual called ‘Vishukaineetam’.

Then it was its time - the everlasting agenda of the day the traditional vegetarian feast ‘Sadya’ served on plaintain leaves displaying the splendor and the cookery skills of SIS teaching fraternity. The 2-3 varities of payasams together with all the dishes of flavor and typical mixtures of spices were served to make ‘Sadya’ delicious and then the buttermilk to help digestion and to complete the meal. We might not have it all together but together we have it all. The entire SIS family cherished the time we got to spend with one another.
