Education is much more than just books. True education cannot be obtained from only books. In fact, travelling is the best way to learn things and the things that matter. Whether it’s walking on the streets of Rome, hiking through the white mountains of Himalayas or spending a sunny afternoon on the beaches of Goa, traveling will never fail you as a teacher. It helps in many ways and adds to ones true education. As said by Ibn Batuta, “Traveling leaves you speechless, but later, turns you into a storyteller.”

Recently I went on school trip to the United States of America. Although the trip was only for a short duration of eleven days it thought me a million new things. It was a group of thirty friends with two teachers. When we walked on the streets of Manhattan or we just wandered around parks of Buffalo and saw the mesmerizing scenes around we learnt something or the other. When we looked at the memorials of the dead in 9/11 attacks’ memorial museum, all of us understood that terrorism is virus entering our society and there must be a stop to it. When I went to the museums there, I found that history is really interesting and we must be proud of our history.

When we visited the science galleries in NASA I realized that science is an important part of the twenty-first century and life without technology is next to impossible. We learnt the culture of the western world, we saw the fantabulous architecture of the skyscrapers, we tasted the mouthwatering varieties of the west, we learnt to live for a while without parents and take care of ourselves, we learnt to choose and make good friends...and most importantly we learnt how important travelling is for one’s true education.

It helps us to understand the culture and lifestyle of different people across the globe. We learn about the history of different places by visiting historic landmarks of different countries. None of the History books will teach us more than travel. Traveling teaches us not just the world in past but also as it is today. It’s probably the best way to truly understand political, economic and social situation of a place. When we come out of our comfort zone and travel through jungles and mountains we begin to explore natural wonders of world. We begin to realize the beauty of nature. It helps us to learn to be able to adapt to new learning environment.
Moreover, it teaches us to be independent and to take proactive decisions when difficult situation arises. We learn to have better understanding of people and their actions. It improves our social and communication skills. It gives us relaxation and peace of mind. It boosts up our tolerance for uncertainty. To see, to learn and to know the unknown is traveling. Going on tour, not only help us to exchange our thoughts and understand the new world but also it makes us realize our potential, the things we enjoy and the person who we really are. Traveling gives us an introduction to ourselves. It provides us real life education as we step out of our comfort zone and move towards new adventure.

As every coin has two sides, even traveling has another side. As traveling is too costly many can’t afford to roam around the world. Making travel plan, then preparation for traveling and finally to travel is too much time consuming.

It is well said that to get something you must be ready to lose something. After losing time and some money, if one gets lots of knowledge fun and life long memories than it is worth. So what are you waiting for? Pack your bags and begin your journey towards your dream destination. Lots of fun and education is waiting for you.
Happy journey….
