Hundreds of Indian employees of Kharafi National held a protest in front of Indian Embassy on Wednesday to bring an end to their grievances.

The workers, who had not been paid their monthly salaries for nearly seven months and have been living under desolate conditions in their camp in Shuaiba Industrial Area, arrived at embassy in three buses to bring an end to their grievances.

The protesting workers met the embassy officials and explained their sufferings. As per the workers, they are living in very deteriorating conditions in the company camp where there is no proper water and food facility. Thousands of workers stranded at the company’s labor camps, have been suffering for weeks at a stretch without water, poor sanitation, intermittent electricity and no proper medical attention.

Later the embassy officials called the company management and held a meeting with the HR officials. The officials agreed to pay all the pending dues of the workers by end of this month. The Company officials held discussion with Ambassador Mr Sunil Jain and Deputy Chief of Mission Mr Subhashish Goldar and agreed to pay the pending dues of these workers by March 1st. The Embassy also informed the company to update the statues of pending dues to the workers who have resigned from the company within a week. The embassy also promised the striking workers that the Embassy officials will visit their camp within a week to followup the issues.

Earlier also the Indian embassy had taken up the issues of nonpayment of salary of Kharafi group employees to the official’s authorities. Despite the repeated promises, the company had not yet taken any action to settle the issues permanently.

Many of the workers have already resigned from job and want to go back to India however their dues are not yet paid by the company.
