Fare thee well Carmelites (Farewell – 2016)

Monday, January 9, 2017

‘Today is a new day. One you have never seen before and will never see again. Seize the wonders of today.’

Rightly so Carpe Deim was the theme of the valedictory ceremony held for the outgoing batch of Std. XII held on December 10th 2016. Invoking God’s presence at the start of each new day is the Carmel way which encompassed every religion. The programme that followed was sprinkled with song and dance with much enthusiasm and panache. To lend variety to the event the juniors initiated an interactive session followed by a power point presentation which took the seniors down memory lane.

The Principal Sr. Violette addressed the students with love and encouragement. As they stand at the threshold of life’s journey, she reminded them to believe in themselves, look at the past with gratitude, the present with confidence, the future with hope and seize every opportunity that came their way.

Every student was then honoured with a title and memento that summed up their quaint personality and uniqueness.

In step with the Carmel tradition the crème de la crème of the event was the selection of the winners of the prestigious title Mister and Miss Carmel which was based on a point system based on their all-round performance, and their spontaneous take on social issues.

The coveted title was bagged by Sourab Saju Paul –Mister Carmel and Inez Karen Martis -Miss Carmel. Abdur Raqib and Aswathi Harsha Kumar were the Runners up.
Representatives from Std. XII expressed their gratitude to their Alma Mater for their memorable time at Carmel. Ms. Vidya brought down the curtain on this momentous event with a few anecdotes and a personal motto-

‘Your future lies before you like a sheet of fallen snow, be careful how you tread on it for every mark will show.’
