Winter astronomically begins on Wednesday

Department of Astronomy and Space Sciences at Kuwait Science Club said that the winter astronomically begins on Wednesday. The Director of Astronomy and Space Science at the Kuwait Science club Bader Hamoud Al-Omeira informed that the Winter Solstice is a celestial event that occurs as a result of obliqueness of the Earth’s axis revolving around the sun.

With Winter Solstice, rays of the sun become perfectly perpendicular to the Tropic of Capricorn — an imaginary line 23.5 degrees down to the equator, he said. He added the length of daylight in areas in the northern hemisphere is less than 12 hours, and vice versa in the southern half of the areas where the day exceeds 12 hours.
