Sakthy’s Cricket Academy Inaugurated in Kuwait

Sakthy’s Cricket Academy (SCA) Kuwait got officially inaugurated on Thursday 15th December, 2016 in Kuwait. Renowned cricketer and the first international umpire from Kerala Mr. Jose Kurishinkal declared the academy open at the function. Former Kerala state player and former Kuwait cricket team member Mr. Hanees Babu launched the jersey by handing over to academy team captain Akhil Sajeev Nair. SCA honoured three of its team members, Akhil Sajeev Nair, Gokul Sunilkumar and Govind Sunilkumar who represented Kuwait at CWC Asia Cup Under 19 Division 2 qualifier matches held in Malaysia during September/October 2016. The well-wishers and supporting members who attended the function includes Mr. Manoj,Mr. Bose Mathew, Mr. Nishad, Mr. Naveen, Mr. Ismail, Mr. Bijo, Mr.Shibu and Mr. Joshi.

SCA Kuwait is the brain child of Mr. Sakthy V.S, member of Kerala Veterans Cricket Association. He was Kerala University player in 1999, 2000 and 2001 and has in his credit the status of Asian Cricket Council Level 1 Coach. He was the member of Under 22 State camp for the year 1999-2000. He has been conducting cricket coaching sessions in Kuwait for the past 5 years. He expressed the gratitude for the support and encouragement showered by his team members and well-wishers which helped him in setting up his dream project, a cricket academy for the aspirant players in Kuwait, free of cost.

SCA Kuwait tasted its first victory at their debut match in Kuwait cricket juniors and schools championship 2016-17 held by Kuwait Cricket on 17th December against Prosports Dark Knights, with 67 runs. Gokul Sunilkumar of SCA Kuwait was declared Man of the Match.
