Teenagers of 16 years will be tried as adults in criminal cases from next year

Teenagers as young as 16 years of age will be tried as adults in criminal cases starting from January 1, 2017, local daily Kuwait Times reported citing Al Rai Arabic news paper.

Authorities urged legal guardians to take extra caution and make sure that their children stay away from criminal behavior. The National Assembly had last year passed a law to reduce the legal age for criminal accountability for teenagers from 18 to 16.
