IBPC hosted debate on “Capitalism versus Socialism”

Indian Business & Professional Council (IBPC) successfully hosted their first debate evening on the evening of Thursday Oct 13th 2016 at the Costa Del Sol hotel.

The topic “Capitalism versus Socialism” was moderated by Mr. R. Kuppanna, GM of Kuwait India International Exchange Co. and Mr. Choji Lamba Lamba, Joint Secretary IBPC. While Mrs. Madhulika Mohta, Mr. Aninda Banerjee, Mr. Devesh Kumar and Mr. Sunit Arora presented their arguments in favour of Capitalism; Mr. Deepak Bindal, Mr. Ram Mohan Reddy, Mr. Shivy Bhasin and Mr. Digant Kapoor presented their case for socialism, each team trying to express its impact and influence on the evolution of society over the past several decades.

The evening was enlivened with informative definitions, innovative arguments and eye opening statistics as both sides presented their case well peppered with poetry, irony, humour and even quotes from various scriptures. The event brought together members and guests from different professions and gave the members an opportunity to connect with their peers in an environment that encourages learning through communication.

The audience too got their share of a say in the matter and asked questions as well as presented their points of view on the subject of the evening. The Committee plans to make such debating events more regular to encourage a participative and intellectual discourse on topics of interest.

IBPC is a great platform to interact, inspire and be an inspiration to others. Our aim is to keep our members well informed, on top of trends and in line with industry benchmarks, besides providing entertainment through regular cultural events. Any person with Indian Citizenship or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) can become a member.

IBPC will be organizing a Keynote speech by Mr. R. C. Bhargava Chairman Maruti/Suzuki on Wednesday Nov 16th 2016 and a Concert by Santoor Maestro Rahul Sharma on Saturday Jan 27th 2017. IBPC is also planning to organizes a keynote speech by Mr Shashi Tharoor in coming March or April 2017, organisers informed.
