Kokan Welfare Society Launched “Student Mentorhip Program in Career Planning”

Kokan Welfare Society, launched unique program of its kind, called STUDENT MENTORHSIP PROGRAM IN CAREER PLANNING AND COUNSELLING on August 26, 2016 in Salmiya Indian Model School, attended by large number of students and parents.

The program started with recitation of verses from The Holy Quran by Master Umair A Majeed Jalgaonkar. Joint Secretary Aslam Thakur delivered welcome speech and Dr. Abdul Razak Rumane gave brief description about Kokan Welfare Society’s activities and plans.

President Salim Desai who conceptualized the program, is also Chief Mentor of the program and Career Counsellor, gave presentation explaining importance of career planning, useful tips in planning process and parents role in children’s career development. He also explained the mentorship program structure, its objectives, student’s responsibilities and mentors responsibilities. Student Mentorship Program is career counselling program which is supported by successful professionals in community by sharing their knowledge and experience with GENERATION NEXT. This program is supported by 14 top Kokani Community Professionals in Kuwait representing various fields like Medical and Healthcare, Finance, Management, IT and Communications, Science and Technology, Educationist, Entrepreneurs, Marketing etc. Mentors are contributing it free of cost and adding value to the program by giving useful tips. Dr. Nazim Parkar, Mohamed Yusuf Chorghay, Mrs. Tasneem Dalwai and Ms. Farzeen Rumane gave valuable suggestions on behalf of the mentors.

Second Secretary of Indian Embassy Kuwait Mr. A K Shrivastav graced the occasion as a chief guest and enlightened about career as well as civil services courses. Mohamed Saleh Burud, Advisor and veteran community member also graced the occasion and shared his experience.

Students, Ayman Paloji, Amal Hajwane, Fiza Desai and Abbas Faqi welcomed mentors with brief profile and were greeted with flowers by EC members, Shafi Alware, Aman Yelukar, Mujahid Mulla, Hasrat Walile, Imtiaz Desai, Amanullah Popere, Parvez Wadekar.

At the end, Vice President Hamza Falahi guided students with importance of acquiring and sharing of knowledge.

Finally, Ashraf Hajwane who hosted the program with great details and made it interesting delivered vote of thanks.

The audience was very impressed with this UNIQUE program and gave best wishes. The office bearers express their gratitude to the executive and working committees, the volunteers and the community for their dedicated efforts and support.
