India government invites nomination for Pravasi Bharatiya Samman

The next Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention will be held on 7-9 January 2017 in Bengaluru. As in previous years, the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards (PBSAs) will be conferred by Hon’ble President at the PBD Convention on 9 January, 2017, as the highest honour conferred on overseas Indians by the Government of India in recognition of their achievements both in India and abroad. The awards will be conferred on a Non-Resident Indian (NRI), Person of Indian Origin (PIO) or an NRI / PIO Organization / Institution, who have made a significant contribution in one of the following fields mentioned below:

(a) Better understanding in Kuwait of India;
(b) Support to India’s causes and concerns in a tangible way;
(c) Building closer links between India, the overseas Indian community and Kuwait;
(d) Social and humanitarian causes in India or Kuwait;
(e) Welfare of the local Indian community;
(f) Philanthropic and charitable work;
(g) Eminence in one’s field or outstanding work, which has enhanced India’s prestige in Kuwait; or
(h) Eminence in skills which has enhanced India’s prestige in that country (for non-professional workers).


All Indian Associations registered with the Embassy and previously awardees of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman in Kuwait are requested to send their nominations by completing the attached nomination form (http://www.indembkwt.org/PBS.docx) to the Embassy at the earliest but not later than 15 August 2016.
