Mahaneeyem Malayalam , is an initiative that has been undertaken by the Kuwait St. Peter's Mar ThomaYuvajanaSakhyam through the years with the intent of familiarizing the younger generation of the Parish with their mother tongue Malayalam and inculcating in them a passion and interest in the letters binding them towards their homeland and their culture.

The fifth edition of this venture under the aegis of the Sakhyam was held from the 12th of June 2016 to the 2nd of July 2016. The three week session of one hour classes held in the evenings were engaging with classes divided amongst teachers with students divided on their levels of their current understanding of the language. The Sakhyam office bearers along with volunteers managed the proceedings through every day through to the final day.

As is the practice every year ,Mahaneeyem Malayalam 2016 had its final day celebrations on the 2nd of July wherein every class presented their songs/recitals in Malayalam in the most colourful and entertaining manner showcasing the efforts and training of the teachers and all those who were involved. The songs, recitals were handpicked to highlight the richness and colourfulness of the language brought out by famous poets and playwrights in Malayalam. An audio- visual presentation was shown depicting the evolution and development of language and about the legends of Malayalam literature and their works.

The poem “AthirukkakkumMalayonneThudathe” presented by the teachers along with the volunteers in tribute to the late KavalamNarayanaPanicker , noted dramatist, theatre director and poet was a major draw of the evening.

The students were presented with a Course Completion Certificate and teachers with a Certificate of Appreciation for their dedicated service. The final day gathering was inaugurated by Sakhyam President Rev. Santhosh Philip. Mr.Noble M. Mathew, Convenor welcomed the gathering and the felicitation was offered by Mr. Thomas Mathew, Parish Trustee and Mr. Aji C. Varghese, Sakhyam Vice-President. Mr. Ranjith John took the role of Master of Ceremony and coordinated the programs.The vote of thanks was rendered by Mr.Linu George Samuel, Secretary of the Kuwait St. Peter's Mar ThomaYuvajanaSakhyam.

Mahaneeyem Malayalam is one of the highly anticipated events of the Sakhyam every year.
