Visit visas’ extension stopped till further notice

Monday, May 16, 2016

Directors of residency affairs departments in all six governorates received verbal orders to suspend the extension of all types of visit visas until further notice, local Arabic daily Al-Qabas reported.

The decision comes as plans to increase visa fees are set to be implemented soon, said the sources, adding that the directors have already started to suspend the extensions since Saturday.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Times reported citing AlRai Arabic news paper that a foreigner living in Kuwait will not be allowed to issue a family visit visa for a parent or sibling born in 1950 or earlier. This step is to ‘fight manipulation’ and prevent individuals from using the visit visa in order to bring his sick relatives to receive free treatment in Kuwait, daily added. The new condition also helps prevent using visit visas to bring individuals to Kuwait for begging during Ramadan, the report added.
