United Indian School Clinch the Under-14 Trophy

United Goans Centre has successfully held the second interschool football tourney for children under 14 at Bayan Grounds. The Under 14 Inter School childrens final was played between United Indian School (UIS) and Indian Central School (ICS). Eight teams participated in a 9-a-side knock out tournament and United Indian School was crowned champions over Indian Central School on April 1st 2016. Both teams were very excited to have a shot at taking home the Winners trophy as teams showed up ahead of time on a bright and sunny Friday morning to warm up. The match opened with ICS attacking the UIS defense fiercely and spending almost the first quarter of the match in the UIS box. Sandip the playmakerfor ICS had three shots in the first ten minutes. He had to be substituted early on due to injury and the tide had changed the match for UIS. UIS had a few shots on target and they made it count with Nikhil evading the fingertips of Rajesh to give UIS the much needed lead. UIS was defending in numbers in the box to protect the lead. In the second half, ICS stepped up the pressure and came close a couple of time but the keeper Joshua was upto the task all the times. In the last minute he pulled of a stunning save to make sure ICS did not get that all important equalizer. As the final whistle blew, UIS celebrated their 1-0 win and their inter school U-14 football trophy overcoming eight schools in the tournament. Adam of UIS won the lucky school children draw to win a foosball table given by Peter Mendes. All the schools that had participated received a token of appreciation for their participation. The chief guest for the day was Mr.Hakim who is the CEO of Al Amaz shipping company presented the winners trophy to UIS team.
