Goa Maroons and Kerela Challengers Set Up 40th UGC Football Finals

The prestigious United Goans Centre will hold its 40th edition football finals on April 1st 2016 which will be held under the auspicies of KIFF. Founded in 1976, The United Goans Centre (UGC) is one of the oldest and most respected soccer club in Kuwait. UGC have held the finals for the last forty years starting from Sour Ground to Ahmadi Grounds and from Shuwaikh MOH grounds and now to Bayan Grounds. The 40th finals will be played between Goa Maroons and Kerela Challengers on Bayan Grounds. Kerela Challengers are the current holders of the UGC trophy. Kerela Challengers marched to the finals beating Curtorcares 2-0, KGA on penalties and Sky Net 2-1. Goa Maroons overcame Navelim 1-0 and AVC 2-0. With both the teams in good form, the final will be a good exhibition for spectators.



The under 14 inter school childrens finals will be held before the mens final which is between United Indian School and Indian Central School. Indian Public School (IPS), Bhavans, Indian Central School, Don Bosco (IES), Carmel School, Indian International School, United Indian School and DPS participated in the knock out football tourney. UGC president Tony Alphonso is hoping to give more chances for the young generation to enjoy the beautiful game and help them mature as footballers. We would like to invite everyone to come and witness both the finals on Friday.
