Kozhikode re-created in “Samoothiri Nadu” Malabar Maholsavam 2016

Mother of all Maholsavam and Festival “Malabar Maholsavam 2016”, the mega event of Kozhikode District NRI Association Kuwait attracted thousands in the specially arranged venue “Samoothiri Nadu” at Abbasiya Indian Central School open auditorium held on 26th February 2016. Renowned Indian Film Director and Dadasahib Falke Award winner Padmavibhooshan Dr. Adoor Gopalakrishnan was the Chief Guest of the event.
Kozhikode, the capital city of Malabar Region in Kerala, famous for its culture and hospitality re-created in “Samoothiri Nadu” were decorated with Kozhikodan Sweets Halwa and Banana Chips, Salted items and Ice Pickles and other various kozhikodan food courts.
The Morning session started with the ribbon cutting by Dr. Adoor Gopalakrishnan and he declared open the festival and inaugurated various competitions held during the event including Photo exhibition of Malabar. Elias Thottathil, Praju TM, K Ali Koya and Santhosh Punathil spoke during the session.
After the throughout cultural programs and colorful procession, The social gathering started at 5.00 pm. Association president Aziz Thikkodi presided over the function and inaugurated by Mr. Sreevasthava, Second Secretary Indian Embassy Kuwait.
The Chief Guest Padmavibhoosan Dr. Adoor Gopalakrishnan was the highlight of the function. During the event KDNA honored Shifa Al Jazera Chariman Dr. KT. Rabiulla for his contribution to the medical field and his son-in-law and vice chairman of Shifa Al Jazera Mr. Mumthasar Majeed received the honor with the absence of Dr. Rabiullah.
Association also honored Mr. BP Nasar, Chairman of Frontline Logistics for the Golden Achievement Award, Dubai. Indian Community School Secretary Mr. Vijay Karayil, Fusion Logistics Director Dr. Sony Sabastian, BEC Exchange Country Head Mr. Mathews Varghese, Association General Secretary Sathian Varoonda, Malabar Maholsavam Chairman Suresh Mathur, General Convener Zubair MM, Advisory board member Krishnan Kadalundi, Treasurer Zaheer Alakkal spoke during the occasion.
The Children of KDNA members who scored significant in class 10th & 12th exam were honored during the function. Malabar Maholsavam 2016 Souvenir was released on the occasion by Mumthasar Majeed .
Variety of cultural programs including Live Orchestra lead by Versatile singer Abjijith Kollam, Patturumal fame Akash, Mylanchi winner Keerthana, Astonishing comedy by Siraj Payyoli and Saji Ochira and Kozhikodan Mehfil by Rafi Kallai and Sameer Vellayil attracted and enthralled the audience.
Variety of Dances were also attracted the audience including International Philippine Dance Band ‘NEXT EPISODE KUWAIT”, Upasana School of Dance, Break House, Zero Gravity and KDNA Woman’s fusion dance and Oppna.
The entire event were controlled and guided by Malabar Maholsavam Program committee, KDNA Executive, Area/Unit office bearers.
