Weather forecaster at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Abdulaziz Al-Qarawi said the country is currently witnessing the transitional phase between seasons, which is known as ‘Sabq Al-Sarayat’ characterized by dust storms and heavy rains, reports Al-Qabas daily.

He explained the dust storms during this period usually form quickly and vanish within a short period — around 45 minutes. He urged the public to monitor weather
updates this time of the year to guarantee their safety. He disclosed ‘Sabq AlSarayat’ starts on March 10 every year and it precedes the ‘Sarayat’ season which begins in April and ends in May yearly, indicating the dust storms are accompanied by strong winds with speed of up to 70 kms per hour. He added visibility is low due to the dust storms.
