Kozhikode District Association conducted Onam -Eid celebration

Kozhikode District Association, Kuwait conducted its Onam Eid celebrations with a variety of Art & Cultural programs on Friday, the 25th September 2015 at Indian Community School, Khaitan.
A warm and colorful reception with traditional band music and women in traditional uniform carrying flowers with lamp plates was given to His Excellency Mr. Sunil Jain, Indian Ambassador to Kuwait. The Ambassador and his wife Dr.Gargi Jain were the Chief Guests of the event.
His Excellency Mr. Sunil Jain, Indian Ambassador to Kuwait inaugurated the event at 10:45 am by lighting the traditional lamp in presence of Association officials and many distinguished guests and personalities. Acting President of the Association Sidharthan Kuruvatoor presided over the ceremony and Abdul Najeeb TK, the General Secretary of the Association briefed major activities of the Association. The Ambassador in his inaugural speech expressed his gratitude to the Association for its graceful social activities and humanitarian services. Felicitation speeches were given by Mr. Varghese Puthukulangara – Pravasi Welfare Board Director and Association Patrons Mr. Shabeer Mandoli, Mr. Rajagopalan.E and Mr. Hamid Keloth. Mahilavedi President Mrs. Reeja Santhosh also given a brief of Mahilavedi activities to the audience. Onam Eid message was presented by Mr. Shamsudeen TK. Various dignitaries and personalities from all walks of life in the Indian community including social, cultural, political, and business and industrialists were present. The Association honoured young talented scholars of Association members who achieved 75% and above marks in their High school and Senior School Board Exams held recently. The scholars who received the Awards are Arjun S, Anushri NK, SuvarnaValsan, DeeshaDilip Rahul Roy, JyothiTresa Roy, Sahna P, Shijas TK., Aiswarya P, Riya Maria Roy, ArunimaRadkhakrishnanandSoonamShaji L.
Under the leadership of Mr. Srinivasan , President Salmiya area a sumptuous ‘Ona Sadhya’ was prepared and served to over thousand members in its traditional manner. The colorful entertainment programs namely Thiruvathira Kali, Oppana, Cinematic dance, Folk dance, Cultural Script etc. were staged by our Association’s Mahilavedi. Also items such as Maveli, Pulikali, Group song, Onapatte and Orchastra presented by Association members got great applause from the audience for its quality performance.
General Convener Shyjith K presented welcome speech and Rathidas K.V. - the Acting Treasurer expressed vote of thanks. Onam- Eid Celebrations were controlled by convenors namely Sameer Vellayil, ThasleenaNajeeb, Sreenish, Srinivasan, Aboobacker.K, SherifThamarassery, Das.KT, Noushad, Bharathan.EC, and Rathidas.K.V.
