Festivals create the feeling of oneness in the people, purifying their souls and attaining eternal bliss. These festivals often link the present to the past. Many festivals trace its path to some historical event. One such festival is Eid ul Adha or the festival of sacrifice commemorating the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismael as an act of obedience to Allah.

Festivals are a prime attraction for children. Apart from getting holidays they also get to eat sweets and delicacies pertaining to the festival.

The kindergarten children of Indian Educational School, Pearl Nursery and Jack & Jill Mangaf also had the opportunity to celebrate the festival of Eid –al-Adha in a very splendid manner.

The children came to school in their grandest attire, mainly the traditional costumes.

The prime attraction was the Eid Assembly held on the 22nd of September, 2015, held in the schools. The assembly was conducted to create a sense of awareness of the festival amongst the kids.

Skits were enacted by the children, emphasising why people celebrate Eid ul Adha. This was followed by an Eid Nasheed in which the tiny tots performed a dance number leading to the culmination of the assembly. Ms Rajni Head of Pearl Nursery made sure that the children got to experience the festivity in all its grandeur.

A “Duffmuttu” dance was performed by the lovely kids of Jack & Jill, Mangaff to entertain their friends on the occasion. Ms.Rathi Ravindran Head of Jack and Jill Nursery, appreciated the little dancers with an overwhelming feeling of admiration for their fabulous performance.

Vice Principal IES for Kindergarten and Primary, Ms. Lalitha Premkumar addressed the children, further imparting the significance of the assembly and wishing them ‘Happy Eid Mubarak’

As part of the celebration, back in the classroom, to unleash the creativity and artsy sides of children the little ones were engaged with some exciting theme based art activities!

This was followed by a class party where the toddlers brought a variety of snack items, which they shared with each other. This was done to inculcate in them the act of charity and the virtue of sharing with fellow beings, which is one of the pillars of Islam. The kindergarten corridor bulletin board was decorated on the Eid festival theme.

The children went home in revelry, reminiscing the festive occasion that will remain in their hearts for a long time to come.
