Steps taken to prepare mandatory DNA testing law

Ministry of Interior have started taking necessary steps to complete the regulations of the mandatory DNA testing law, Arab Times daily reported quoting Al-Rai daily.

According to daily, the application of the law will begin with collecting samples from the military personnel.

Daily added that the ministry has formed an 8-member committee headed by the Director General of General Investigation Department Major General Fahad Al-Dousari to allot the executive regulations of the law after studying the international experiences in this field.

The sources affirmed that the DNA database will be limited to criminal investigations only, and will be used in criminal and disaster cases of and not for any other issue except by the order of the Public Prosecutor and with the consent of the owner of the DNA.
