Kuwait Engineers Forum conducted technical seminar on Aviation Safety & Process Safety

Kuwait Engineers Forum (KEF) is a registered association of Indian Engineers working in Kuwait. It’s the largest association of Engineers in Kuwait, with a strong membership of over 1300 engineers from over 200 engineering colleges across India and abroad. KEF has organized a technical seminar exclusively for their members and families on 12th Aug 2015, at Kohinoor Restaurant, Fahaheel. Apart from the Kuwait Industrial Exhibition & Technical Conference (KINETIC), this is their maiden attempt to organize a monthly technical seminar for their members and family.




The event started with the welcome address by Technical committee convener, Mr. Jacob G. Thomas, followed by lamp lighting ceremony by Kef General Convenor(GC) Mr.Anil Kumar, GC Designate Mr. Mr.Sreekumar, Ex GC Mr.Santhos Kumar, Mr. Suresh Krishnan & Technical Convenor Mr. Jacob G Thomas. KEF GC Mr.Anil Kumar formally inaugurated the event and explained the Vision of the technical seminar. He informed that the KEF will further coordinate with other professional bodies to organize the upcoming seminars.




The first topic “Process Safety & risk Assessment- A perspective” was lead by Mr.G.Unnikrishnan, who is currently a Technical Specialist working with Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). The presentation outlined various aspects of the principles of process safety, development of process safety, various risk assessment methods, modern approaches, future challenges etc. The second topic “Aviation Safety” was lead by Wg.Cdr N Nandakumar, a retired wing commander from Indian Air force, who is currently working with Kuwait Airways. The speaker briefed about Aviation Safety standards by International Civil aviation Organization (ICAO) and IATA. Passenger safety, basic parts of aircrafts, possibility of failures, redundancy, reliability, factors that affect flight safety, objectives and methods to maximize flight safety, future trends in aircraft design etc were well explained by the speaker. Engineers, technologists and entrepreneurs from various sectors benefitted from the technical seminar. A very interactive Q & A session was carried out after each presentation.




Technical Committee Convenor Mr.Jacob Thomas announced that the next seminar is scheduled on 16th September 2015. Topics for the day shall include Earned Value and Contract Management, which shall be presented by renowned speakers. During the presidential address, Mr.Anil Kumar informed that the Kuwait Industrial Exhibition & Technical Conference (KINETIC 2016) is tentatively scheduled on April 2016.
