North Kanara Association Celebrated Feast of Assumption of Virgin Mary

The Committee and Members of North Kanara Association – Kuwait (NKA-K) joined together on Saturday, 15th August, 2015, to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of our Blessed Virgin Mary as well as the Independence Day of India.

Members attended the Eucharistic celebration offered by the Association at St. Therese Church, Salmiya, at 6.30pm and thereafter a huge crowd gathered at the residence of the President Mr. John Fernandes for a get together which consisted of families and bachelors from other religions as well. Holy Rosary was recited led by Mr. Ashu Rodrigues.

The guest of honor was Rev. Fr. Antony Lopez, OFM Cap., JCD., Eccl. Judge & Chancellor who graciously attended the function, delivered an inspiring talk to the audience after the prayers. Mr. Ashu Rodrigues gave an introductory talk and spoke on the purpose of the celebration. The President thanked the members for their contribution in various ways.

A game of Housie was conducted by Mr. Joseph Tellis, Asst. Sports Secretary and this was played enthusiastically by all members and several prizes were distributed to the winners by Rev. Fr. Anthony Lopez.

A few members of the Association both ladies and gents, joined together at the residence of Mr. Tony Fernandes, Executive Coordinator, to prepare the traditional sweet Patolis. A sumptuous festive dinner that was prepared by Mr. Joseph Fernandes who voluntarily contributed to cook, was relished by all attendees.

The function was held with the good intention of getting members together especially those who are away from their families and it was worthy to note that a huge crowd attended irrespective of religion, as the aim was to celebrate both Independence Day as well as
the Feast of Assumption.
