Kuwait announces Thursday as first day of Ramadhan

Kuwait Tuesday announced that Thursday would be the first day of Muslims' holy month of Ramadhan.
Justice Yusuf Al-Mutaw'a, head of the Constitutional Court and deputy chairman of the Court of Cassation, said in a statement the crescent sighting authority could not prove the sighting of crescent today evening.
Therefore, he added, the first day of Ramadhan would fall on Thursday.
Al-Mutaw'a congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the government and the Kuwaiti people on this occasion.
Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Yaqoub Al-Sane congratulated the political leadership and Kuwaiti people on the month of Ramadhan.
