Floral tributes paid to late Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi

“Development is not about factories, dams and roads. Development is about people. The goal is material, cultural and spiritual fulfillment for thepeople. The human factor is of supreme value in development” said Dr. Jitendra Ariga quoting former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi whose 24th death anniversary was observed by the Rajiv Gandhi Awards Committee, Kuwait at a solemn event organized at the residence of RGAC Joint Secretary Dr. Roy Francis.




Dr. (Mrs.) Aji Jose and Mrs. Asma K. Abdullah lit the ceremonial lamp to signify the commencement of the occasion which is observed in India as Anti Terrorism Day. Signifying communal harmony, speakers from the Hindu, Christian and Muslim community spoke about the immense contribution of Rajiv Gandhi in creating a modern India.




Speaking on the occasion, Markos Williams, RGAC Chairman quoted Rajiv Gandhi who while describing the diversity of the Indian populace said “The prism of geography may color our peoples differently, but in the white light, we are one humanity”.




Shaji Abraham, RGAC General Secretary administered the Anti Terrorism Pledge exhorting all to “ work for the emotional oneness and harmony of all the people of India regardless of cast creed, religion or language”.



At the conclusion of the event all participants paid floral tributes to the late Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
