MoI Eyes Harsher Punishments On Motorists Using Cell Phones

Ministry of Interior is currently studying the recommendation to impose harsher punishments on motorists who use mobile phones by hand while driving, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting sources.

According to report, the reports presented by the General Traffic Department (GTD) cited the use of mobile phones by hand while driving as one of the main causes of traffic accidents, most of which led to death. Sources said the senior leaders have given importance to these reports and recommended harsher penalties for those who use mobile phones by hand while driving.

Sources added these penalties include suspension of driving license for three months, KD250 fine and impounding the vehicle for a month.
